The U11s won the first game of their season against a strong Oxford Downs team. Kennington batted first, scoring slowly at first but accelerating towards the end with 29 no from Rupert Boddington, and 34 no from Ben Knowles, to finish on 181 (starting from 100) in the 16 overs. Only 3 wickets were lost (penalty of 6 runs for each).

Downs scored consistently through their innings, despite tight bowling from William Sharpe (3 overs for only 12 runs and 1 wicket), Harry Robertson (3 overs for only 13 runs) and Jez Alleyn (2 overs, 1 wicket for 11 runs). They had reached 161 as the last pair began their final set of four overs. However, accurate and quick bowling from Ben Knowles, and Rupert Boddington who took two vital wickets against the last pair, left Oxford Downs 23 runs short. Ellis Wellstead, keeping wicket for the fist time ever, stood up well to the quick bowling, and took a catch.
