U15s v Didcot, Monday 21st May 2007. Away. Lost by 6 wickets.

The two sides might light of the wet and gloomy weather and produced a high scoring, well fought match. The highlight of the Kennington innings was a superb 50 not out by acting skipper Andy Russell. He put Didcot very much on the defensive by excellent running between the wickets and a range of off side shots off both the front and back foot. He was ably assisted by Josh Haynes (16) and Jack Spencer-Matthews (22); the home side were able to slow Kennington’s scoring rate by accurate bowling in the last 5 overs but still had to reach a demanding target of 113.

Kennington took to the field in confident mood but strong batting from Gibson and Cook saw Didcot take control. As hands got wet and cold, Kennington dropped several straight forward catches, and despite excellent ground fielding, the batsmen dominated. The bowlers found it impossible to maintain line and length with the wet ball that would not swing or take spin. Didcot reached their target with over two overs to spare.

Next match, at home to Challow, Monday 4th June.
