The bowlers were not at their best! It was the first match of the season and a very chilly evening, so it was perhaps understandable. Only Henry Pickford maintained his line and length to concede only 13 runs in his four overs. Witney Swifts, mainly through the efforts of their opener Seacole who retired on 55, scored 105 for 2. The Kennington fielding, despite the cold, was good. The batting was as good as the bowling was poor. Michael Shortis, with intelligent shot selection and superb running between the wickets, led the run chase, finishing on 30 not out. All the other batsmen played their part and the Witney Swift score was passed with over two overs to spare. A good win. The difference between the sides? A decent wicketkeeper and great running between the wickets. Many thanks for the spectators who stuck it out through a very cold evening!
